Careers: Senior Scientist – Molecular Biologist

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, and perform molecular biology experiments
  • Clone and express specific viral and bacterial proteins
  • Sequence and clone microbial genes
  • Develop infectivity and neutralization assays
  • In-vitro and in-vivo evaluation of viral adjuvanted vaccines
  • Provide scientific direction and oversight to ensure project needs are successfully met
  • Collaborate with senior management, project managers, and other functional groups
  • Analyze and present scientific data both internally and externally
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications and key competencies:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology or Virology
  • Minimum of 7+ years of related research experience, ideally with a biotechnology company and/or a leading pharmaceutical company
  • Direct experience in molecular biology and virology
  • Experience with molecular biology, gene expression, mammalian cell culture, virus culture and manipulation and molecular cloning
  • Some experience with animal modeling is preferred, particularly in vaccine development and mucosal immunology
  • Highly energetic with a strong desire to work and excel in a small company environment where a hands-on approach is essential
  • Superior oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to think strategically
  • Proficient with commonly used software applications (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, GraphPad)
